Working Principle
You've got a temperature controlled burner. Light diesel is the usual fuel. The burner fires into the furnace, and the flame hits the crucible at a designed angle – fully rotated, so it wraps around. Then the flue takes the exhaust. There's a secondary heat recovery pass. That saves fuel.
The crucible itself is cast steel, cast iron, or graphite, depending on what you're melting. The flue is movable – you can adjust it.

Equipment Structure
The oil fired crucible furnace has four main parts. Furnace body. Crucible. Combustion system. Temperature control.
The outer shell is welded steel – structural steel and plate. Nothing fancy. Inside is lined with high alumina bricks. The insulation is a mix of aluminum silicate refractory fiber and diatomaceous earth – or sometimes vermiculite powder. That's the stuff that keeps the heat in. Without good insulation, you're just heating the room.
