All-fiber lined well furnace is a vertical heat treatment furnace where the entire heating chamber – the cylindrical walls, the bottom, and the inside of the lid – is lined with ceramic fiber modules.

Working Principle

 

You hang the workpieces vertically. Crane or electric hoist lowers them into the chamber.

Close the cover. Seal it up.

The heating elements kick on – electric or gas, depending what you ordered.

The fiber lining holds the heat in. Doesn't absorb much itself. So the chamber gets to temperature fast.

A control system – we use PID or PLC – watches the temperature and the soak time. You set your cycle. The furnace follows it.

After the cycle finishes, you pull the parts out. Air cool, furnace cool, or quench. Depends on the material and what you're trying to do.

• Saves power. The all-fiber lining insulates well and doesn't store much heat. Compared to a brick lined well furnace, you save thirty to fifty percent on energy.
• Heats up fast, cools down fast. No waiting around for bricks to come up to temperature. A typical brick well furnace might take three hours to reach 850°C.
• Even temperature. Fiber is lightweight. That means you can put heating elements and circulation fans wherever you want. Not limited by brick shapes.
• Handles thermal shock. Fiber doesn't crack when you cycle it fast. Bricks do. I've seen brick linings spall – pieces fall off the walls – after a few hundred cycles of heating and cooling.
• Clean and low maintenance. Fiber doesn't make dust like brick. No loose mortar. No crumbling.
• Lightweight. A fiber lined furnace weighs about one tenth of a brick lined furnace of the same size. That means the steel frame can be lighter, the foundation doesn't need to be as thick. Saves money on installation.
• Seals tight. We use fiber to fiber soft seals. When the All-fiber lined well furnace heats up, the seal expands. Gets tighter. That's the opposite of brick. Brick seals leak more when they get hot because the steel frame expands and the bricks don't. Fiber seals self tighten.
