The thermosensor probe is one of the most commonly used temperature-sensing elements in temperature measurement instruments. It directly measures temperature and converts the temperature signal into a thermoelectric voltage (EMF) signal, which is then processed by electrical instruments to determine the temperature of the measured medium.
Working Principle
The thermosensor probe detects temperature through a sensing element located inside a protective sheath. As the temperature changes, the sensing element generates a corresponding electrical signal.
Depending on the sensor type:
- Thermocouples generate a millivolt signal based on the temperature difference between two dissimilar metals.
- RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) probes change electrical resistance in proportion to temperature.
- Thermistors change resistance rapidly with temperature variation.
The generated signal is transmitted to a controller or display device for monitoring and automatic temperature regulation.
